How long have you been on DeviantArt? Just coming up on eight years.
What does your username mean? Fairly boring story, actually. Back in the days of the Dreamcast, I frequented the Dreamarena chat rooms - it was my first real taste of internet culture. I needed a username to sign up for the chat-room and I'd recently been playing Final Fantasy VIII, specifically the part where you fight optional GF Cerberus. That sounded like a good name to me. Then, years later, when Dreamarena was long shut down and I acquired a proper PC for all that web-surfing nonsense, I decided to resurrect my old name and declare that Cerberus lives.
Describe yourself in three words. Wait, er... what?
Are you left or right handed? Right. Maybe I should attempt an image using only my left, just for shits 'n' giggles.
What was your first deviation? A chibi version of Soulcalibur IV's Ivy. If I remember rightly it was my most recent piece at the time after deciding to leave Fanart Central and branch out onto dA. I opted to leave a lot of my crappier works out of my dA gallery.
What is your favourite type of art to create? Fanart, natch. I've never had a good mind for creating my own characters.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be? I'd rather continue trying to master my own style, such as it is.
What was your first favourite? A rather excellent shot of Ivy (again, noticing a theme here?) by a deviant named enumasam.
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most? A lot of reference/stock, a lot of art I would give my eye-teeth to be able to create, and a hefty amount of fanart of stuff I like.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist? Too hard to pick just one. jollyjack always impresses me with how dynamic his stuff is. KR0NPR1NZ's work is to die for. arvalis's work always blows my mind. Elias-Chatzoudis produces gorgeous pieces. Loopydave is the caricature king. That's just a handful off the top of my head, narrowing it down to one is impossible.
If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be? I wouldn't mind buying riv3th3d a beer to thank him for all the support (not to mention business!) and if we could get Laitma, RandomReduX and Soviet-Superwoman down the pub at the same time, so much the better!
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life? This is probably a predictable answer, but just the sheer diversity of styles and personalities that come through on dA has been a massive inspiration on me. Again, singling any one person out is nigh impossible. Yeah, I know, such a cop-out answer
What are your preferred tools to create art? Paper of at least 130 gsm, good HB pencil graphite, Uni Pin fineliner pens and Photoshop 7. That's right, Photoshop 7 - how quaintly archaic! Heh, it's what I learnt on and it does everything I need an art program to do. All those bells and whistles of newer versions would just confuse me. Same reason I still use Windows Vista.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art? I only ever draw at my desk. I have everything I need at hand. Interwebs, tunes and a nice solid surface to slam my head on when a picture is refusing to cooperate.
What is your favourite DeviantArt memory? Probably when I realised that a guy with a pencil, a stack of paper and an obsolete art program can do alright for himself with a little encouragement.
